Quality Harvests & Wild West Herb Co.

Smithers, BC

After traversing the globe, experiencing diverse cultures and communities, David and Bethany found themselves drawn to the remote beauty of Smithers. Inspired by their travels and deep reverence for nature, they embarked on a new adventure - one rooted in the soil of the land they now call home. David and Bethany started Quality Harvests as a market garden, with the vision of growing vegetables without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, to provide for themselves and their community. Bethany accidentally developed a passion for the herbs and began studying herbalism with Wild Rose College. From this, Wild West Herb Co. was born to grown high quality herbs for both people and planet. David and Bethany are committed to growing healthy food and bringing their community along for the ride.

Everyone's a gardener, and small-scale agriculture is a revolutionary solution to many of the world's woes. This 1/2 acre market garden focuses on growing a diversity of vegetables using ecological practices. Feeding the soil while feeding the community. No till, no chemicals, and no synthetic fertilizers. We're not asking for change, we're bringing it.

Bulkley Valley Hive & Honey

Telkwa, BC

An herbalist and a beekeeper crafting locally made products from locally grown ingredients. Honey from our own backyard!

Beekeeping is a lifestyle.  Once you go “bee” you don’t go back to a normal existence.  Trevor the beekeeper lives and breathes bee.  He took a deep dive into the world of beekeeping in 2016 when we participated in a study with some friends from New Zealand; spending 12 weeks learning from Master beekeepers in our own backyard.  He caught the bug and they've been steadily increasing their hive numbers each year.  A red-seal Stone Mason by trade, Trevor decided to transition out of working away from home and beekeeping offered a perfect opportunity for quality of life and financial freedom.

Creating a life that is rooted in the natural world has meant life-long learning for Breeann.  Trained as a Teacher, she worked in elementary education for ten years all the while gaining interest in natural healing and herbalism.  What began as curiosity for the way plants can heal became a way of life and has lead to the creation of the Hive & Honey product line.  Training with the Wild Rose College of Natural Healing has deepened her understanding of the way we can use wild and cultivated plants responsibly to heal and nourish our bodies.  Giving up teaching professionally has been a life change for the whole family, but has been incredibly rewarding to bring the knowledge and power of the wild world into the hands of customers through handcrafted products.

Smithereens Mushroom

Smithers, BC

Marie-Eve, a trained sommelier with a background in the insurance industry, and Alexis, a French Chef with over 25 years of culinary expertise, a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, and a Quality Assurance certificate, started on a deeply personal journey into the world of mushrooms.

When faced with early-onset Alzheimer’s in their family, they turned to the healing potential of Lion’s Mane mushrooms. This discovery offered hope and relief, inspiring a broader mission to explore mycology for health and healing. Marie-Eve’s expertise in risk management and regulatory compliance, combined with Alexis’s foundation in quality assurance, now supports their commitment to sustainable practices in mycoremediation and wellness.

Their venture began in 2020 within the humble space of a small growing tent, though their journey truly started in 2018 when Alexis began cultivating Lion’s Mane for himself and Marie-Eve. With a deep commitment to mycology that stretches back to 2008, Alexis’s passion and expertise in mushroom cultivation have shaped Smithereens’ foundations. Together, they established Smithereens Mushrooms, offering a range of products, including dried mushrooms, mushroom salts, risotto bases, tinctures, and mushroom extracts.

As their knowledge grew, so did their vision. Today, Smithereens Wellness represents a holistic approach that extends beyond mushrooms to embrace a full spectrum of wellness products and environmental solutions through mycoremediation. They are dedicated to supporting health naturally and sustainably while using mycology to restore the environment.

Highroad Haskap Farms

Smithers, BC

Originally established in 1976, the Collingwood's operated a successful guide outfitting company that made the land home to 60+ horses in the winter time. In the summer time the property was a place to hang your hat for cowboys/girls getting ready to head North for the long season ahead! It even became a program for high school students who were interested in guiding as a career. After 50 years of hard work and endless memories made, the guide outfitting company was sold. It was time to start a new adventure on the history rich property. Haskaps had recently become popular in the North with their unique taste that comes with an abundance of health benefits and their hardiness that can withstand our harsh winters. The Collingwoods took one taste from a fellow haskap farmer and they were hooked! In August of 2019 they planted 6000 haskap berry plants which included 10 different varieties. Since then their orchard continues to grow and they learn more and more every year.

Dick Family Sugarbush

L'Ange Gardien, QC

The Dick family has been making maple syrup at their sugar bush in L'Ange Gardien, QC for over 30 years. The process of turning maple sap to syrup is done entirely on their property from harvesting firewood, tapping over 900 maple trees, canning the syrup - and lots of taste testing along the way! Ally Dick grew up helping her parents at the sugar bush with tapping maple trees, collecting buckets of sap and is happy to help bring this product to the Bulkley Valley where she now calls home. This syrup was made in the spring of 2025 - bon appétit!
